Tidal – HiFi Music Streaming

Considering the magnitude of the star-studded ownership of this tech company, sorry Jay, but this has to be the most boring announcement we have ever seen! Come on guys! All this creativity on stage and then this. I guess the person in charge of this announcement missed some other small announcements this year like for instance the Apple Watch. Or maybe even forgot to visited the SXSW festival for mere inspiration. Well that’s just our humble opinion. And than again maybe we’re acting like spoiled brats with all the cool announcements and presentations we have seen through the years. Anyway, on a presentation level, please step your game up team Tidal.

Alright, Tidal is live!! So what’s the big deal? Well in fact for the artist it should come down to more control over their music and more margin for every song played.

The Jay-Z – Tidal connection. With negotiations started last year, this January one of Jay’s companies called Project Panther Bidco Ltd offered to buy Aspiro, a Stockholm-listed company that operates the streaming-music services Tidal and WiMP, for $56.1 million in cash. Yup, that’s how uncle Jay rolls baby!

In March the deal was sealed and Jay-Z and his fellow artist owners are now in direct competition with Spotify, Deezer and Apple’s Beats Music. What separates Tidal from Spotify and Deezer? Tidal’s service is known for it’s perfect CD quality streaming service. The music on Tidal isn’t compressed like Spotify and Deezer do.

As for partners/co-owners? You have Alicia Keys, Beyoncé, Calvin Harris, Chris Martin of Coldplay, Daft Punk, Jack White, Jason Aldean, J Cole, Jay Z, Kanye West, Deadmau5, Madonna, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, and Usher.
You can try out Tidal for 7 days. After that the service will cost you $20 for the full high quality experience, or $10 a month if you want to cut those services in half.
